Best dates for love and romance in the new year
Cupid’s Cheat Sheet 2024
Once again, it’s a new year. The grand ballet of planets, stars, and points in the sky make their way into the very fabric of our collective psyche, as we muse on what’s up and coming in the new year — it’s such a fascinating thought, isn’t it? It is, at least for me.
On the topic of love, it’s what we all collectively share — the quest for a deeper, more personal connection with our loved one(s).
I’ve always wondered about the correlation between the movement of the planets — like a clock on the wall telling us the time — and how it tells us about the energies at play here on earth. So here I’ve consolidated a list of essential dates for best times for embracing love, fostering relationships, and experiencing beauty and harmony.
These dates are curated based on favorable alignments of Venus (the planet symbolizing love) and other significant astrological transits that are considerable to be aware of.
Here’s to my readers acing the grand tango in this universally sought quest for love on the vastness of the world stage.
🔎 There are 6 main things I’m looking at:
3 harmonious aspects Venus makes (trines, cj, sxt) to 8 other planets/points (mercury, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune, pluto, nodes)
Venus ingresses into its domicile and exaltation signs
New moons in Venusian-ruled signs
Venus Cazimis (Venus in the heart of the Sun)
Venus Solos (Purity of independent Venusian energy while in a favourable sign/dominant sun sign)
Honourable mentions to any favourable sign ingression
If all that doesn’t make any sense to you, that’s a normal thing — and that’s why I’m the astrologer and you’re not. 😂 But hey, it’s also my job to translate astro data to understandable language. So here it is —

🌟 BONUS — What’s the astro weather like on Valentine’s Day? 🌹
On a personal level I have never liked Valentine’s Day. I thought it was a contrived and capitalistic holiday aimed at making people spend money on often unnecessary gifts and manufactured grandiose gestures, all in the name of love. At the same time, it also seemed selective, leaving the singletons feeling left out and even those in unhappy relationships to pretend everything is a-ok for the sake of appearances on this one day.
This coming year, I’m starting to shift my perspective on Valentine’s Day, coming to appreciate it as a dedicated time to celebrate love and affection in all its forms. It can be a day of inclusivity, celebrating not just romantic love but all kinds of love — the love between friends and even self-love. It’s a day to remind those close to us, and ourselves, that love and appreciation are always worth expressing. While love should indeed be expressed all year round, having a day specifically set aside for it brings its own charm and excitement.
Here are the energies playing out in the sky come Valentine’s day
AI Image — single rose enclosed in a glass dome, set against a pink heavenly backdrop
1. Sun is in Aquarius (forms a sextile with Moon most of the day)
2. Moon in Aries (forms a square with Venus in Capri till late in the evening)
3. Merc in Aquarius (forms a square with Uranus all day)
4. Venus in Capri (forms a sextile with Neptune through the day)
5. Mars in Aq (Unaspected through the day)
6. Jupiter in Taurus
A sextile is a harmonious blend of energies that require just a little bit of effort to get things started. Its a blend of both Aquarian and Aries energies that encourages independence with innovation. It’s a great day for celebrating love in unconventional ways and might inspire people to take bold steps in expressing their affections.
Merc in Aquarius suggests unconventional ideas or unexpected communication. There is restless mental energy that can conjure up creative ways to celebrate love. Be flexible because this is the energy of unpredictability and changes.
Venus in Capri calls for patience and dedication. This is not a sign that relishes in the impulse. So with all that innovative energy in the Sun and Merc, while the Moon is in dynamic Aries, Venus calls for seriousness and commitment to a stable plan. It demands infrastructure and the capabilities to go the distance. It’s a gentle nudge to juggle the excitement of the moment with a considerate nod at the future.
Mars being unaspected in Aquarius throughout the day shows the typical drive and aggression of the day is less expressed, and in the context of Valentine’s Day, this could manifest as a desire to break free from traditional expectations or to celebrate in unique, non-conformist ways.
Jupiter in Taurus brings with its presence a stabilizing, grounding influence. It’s favorable for enjoying the sensual and material pleasures of life. In relationships, it encourages a focus on comfort, loyalty, and the enjoyment of life’s simpler pleasures.
This celestial setup through the day sets the stage for a day that’s anything but ordinary, inviting us to explore love in its many shades — from unexpected, out-of-the-box ideas to simple and charmingly practical. So, why not go with the flow, mix things up a bit, and enjoy the dance of both steadiness and surprise?
It’s all about keeping an open heart and a playful mind, ready to embrace love’s little twists and turns with a smile.
