Why Life’s Darkest Moments Hold the Key to Your True Birth Time

How Our Deepest Struggles Reflect Our Truest Timing

Life’s turning points are like the universe’s way of waving a giant flag at you and saying, “Hey, something important is happening here!”

A marriage. A divorce. A new job. A resignation or lay-off. A birth. A death. An accident. An exaltation in post.

In rectification, these moments are golden for fine-tuning a birth time. By matching these important life events, whether they’re monumental highs or gut-wrenching lows, with what’s going on in a person’s chart, an astrologer can zero in on this individual’s actual birth time with much more accuracy.

Rectification is like the detective work of astrology. It’s reverse engineering a chart to find that exact time, within a specified window, commonly around six hours, based on events that have happened in the past. This process is crucial when the precise birth time is unknown.

For example, a person’s childhood, good or bad, is an excellent indicator of what to look out for. Like tuning an old radio to get the perfect signal, except instead of music, the astrologer fine-tunes the process till the exact time is derived.

Life’s challenging moments often correspond with significant astrological transits or progressions. For example, the transit of Saturn might decide to test your limits with a major challenge, highlighting a time of great personal challenge or responsibility, while a Pluto transit could throw you in the deep end, indicating a period of intense transformation and change.

These life curveballs don’t just shake things up. They leave deep emotional footprints that make them super memorable, making their vivid recall a goldmine for the astrologer.

During rectification, the astrologer plays matchmaker between the individual’s life’s drama and the sky’s blueprint. Since challenging times often have clearer astrological signatures, they provide reliable anchors for adjustments.

For instance, if someone experienced a significant loss during a Pluto opposition to their natal Sun, that’s a big clue to help fine-tune the house positions and ascendant of their chart, leading to more accurate readings and predictions.

Solar arc directions are another key tool. This technique advances all the planets in your chart by the distance the sun travels in a year, approximately one degree. This helps to simulate how your astrological influences evolve over time and correlate these changes with significant events in your life.

Now, when it comes to tracking down those key moments, the hard stuff — like heartbreaks, accidents, or major life challenges — tends to stand out like a neon sign. Why? Because they usually come with intense astrological aspects, like squares and oppositions, that scream, “Look at me!” These events are like big, bold markers on a person’s timeline, making them easier to spot and link back to a chart.

On the flip side, the happy, feel-good moments — like promotions, weddings, graduations — are often tied to gentler aspects, like trines and sextiles. These are more like soft whispers than loud shouts, so they can be trickier to nail down in a chart. They’re wonderful, and undoubtedly happy milestones, but they don’t always leave the same kind of impact that the tougher moments do.

Not only that, they can be common benchmarks that most people experience, they might not feel as uniquely special to everyone. While these events bring joy, they can sometimes lack the deeply personal significance that more challenging times evoke. For example, my graduation for my bachelor’s was not that important to me, but the challenges I had faced prior to that in my personal life certainly gave me more of a push than my education ever did.

In fact, when I look back at my life, more often that not, I recall moments and years of my life using these hard times as benchmarks, because I want to know how far I’d come from the pain — it’s a powerful way to recognize my own resilience and personal development. This perspective emphasizes the transformative power and strength from overcoming difficulties, which can be a motivating approach to reflecting back on life.

When someone goes through a tough period, it often feels intensely personal and singular, making the experience resonate on a deeper level.

Furthermore, collective traumas, like the pandemic, create a shared experience that people can relate to, fostering a sense of collective understanding. In these situations, the pain and hardship are widely acknowledged, allowing people to commiserate and connect through a shared emotional response, even though the event itself wasn’t as personally isolating.

So, what does this say about us humans?

Well, it seems we’re wired to remember the rough patches a little more vividly.

Why do people “glow up” after a break up?

Maybe it’s because those moments force us to grow and push us to find meaning in our lives. Pain has a way of sticking with us, making it easier to recall and analyze when we’re digging into our charts. The emotional weight of painful events often prompts a looking inward and search for meaning, driving the need to explore and question to make sense of everything more deeply.

Joyful events, on the other hand, while cherished and precious, might not provoke the same depth of reflection. It’s like we’re more likely to remember the storms than the sunny days, even though both are important in the grand scheme of things. They can become less significant or defining in the rectification process.

So, the next time you find yourself reflecting on a life-changing moment, whether it’s a painful lesson or a joyful milestone, know that it holds a special place in the stars. Both types of experiences are woven into the fabric of your life and astrological chart, guiding you toward a deeper understanding of your unique cosmic blueprint.

In the end, astrology isn’t just about forecasting the future — it’s about understanding the past and present too. By acknowledging every pivotal moment in life, whether filled with light or shadow, one can steer their life’s journey with clarity and a great sense of purpose.

It’s how I live my life, with astrology as the compass that guides me through a great voyage. After all, the stars will be with me every step of the way.
